Sketched out this icon as a love-meets-barbecue mashup, and the visual logic actually holds up. Heart shape, but the interior fill is all upward flame tongues in scarlet, and underneath there are crossed BBQ tongs rendered in solid black linework. The combination of the heart silhouette and the tongs below reads clearly as an icon, not just a jumble of shapes. At the full 7.5 inch size on a white pique apron its a pretty bold statement.

Mapped through Wilcom EmbroideryStudio at 546 density, which is the heavier end for icon work, but the scarlet flame fill needs that coverage to look solid rather than streaky. 2 colours total: scarlet and black, 1 colour change. 6 sizes available, smallest is 2.5 inches wide by 2.2 tall, largest is 7.5 by 6.57. Stitch count climbs from 5,917 at the pocket badge end up to 26,904 at the full apron-front size. Thats a lot of stitches for a 2-colour design but the flame density is whats driving the count.

Best on white or light pique for the contrast payoff. Use heavy cutaway stabiliser on an apron bib, the satin-fill flame sections exert lateral pull and tearaway wont hold them flat. Dont skip the topping on textured pique weave, youll get flame edges that look frayed rather than crisp. Hoop tight and use a good quality scarlet thread, cheap poly will look dull against the black linework.

A customer who makes personalised grilling aprons hooped the 7.5-inch version on white pique earlier this spring and emailed photos, the scarlet against white came out realy vivid those utensils sat cleanly below the heart without any registration drift.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • White pique apron bib chest panelThe scarlet-on-white pique contrast makes this design photograph well for social media posts from cookout events without any filter needed.
  • BBQ gift set apron with matching oven mittPair the apron with a matching oven mitt using the 2.5-inch badge version for a coordinated BBQ gift set that looks professionally made.
  • Grilling competition apron back designAt competition events where participants wear matching branded aprons, a bold icon design like this reads clearly at a distance across a busy venue.
  • Custom apron for a backyard cookout hostFor a cookout host who genuinely loves grilling, this is the kind of design that gets worn every weekend rather than kept in a drawer.
  • Embroidered patch on a canvas BBQ bagCut and tacked onto a thick canvas grill accessory bag, the defined scarlet heart icon makes a quick visual marker for whose bag is whose.
  • Fathers day apron personalised with name belowAdd a name or date below the 7-in jumbo in a coordinating thread to turn it into a one-off personalised gift for a birthday or fathers day event.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
