This flamingo sunset has proper retro 80s poster energy. The bird is standing in shallow water, long neck curved back, and behind it is a big circular sunset done in horizontal bands of colour going from dark red at the top through coral, peach and orange down toward a sandy yellow at the bottom. Theres a palm tree on the right side of the circle with dark teal fronds, and the whole scene reflects faintly in the water below the birds legs.

Fifteen colours, fourteen changes, and the stripe work in the sunset circle is the most labour-intensive part. Each band is a separate satin fill run across the circle, which means the thread tension has to be consistent or youll get slight buckling at the band edges. Wilcom handled the underlay sequences well so the transitions between bands lie flat, but its worth doing a tension test before you start on your main fabric. Dont skip that test, seriously.

Alot of orders for this come from people making summer apparel and tropical party merch. I get pings about this one every summer, especially in june and july when people are running beach event orders. One customer last august sent me a photo of a whole set of black cotton tees she made for a family beach week, six of em with this design, and they looked like proper commercial merch. Avoid pale pink or peach base fabrics because the flamingo body blends in and you lose the silhouette. Black, charcoal, navy and dark teal are all strong choices here.

Back it with heavyweight cutaway on stretch fabrics, the horizontal stripe sections need a stable base or the satin fills start to tunnel. Tearaway works fine on woven canvas and stable cotton twill. Hoop the full 7.5-inch for a tee back panel or beach bag front. Use the 3.5 chest on a hat front or a pocket. Skip mesh topping on plain wovens but definitely use it on any terry or velvet base. Biggest size runs to 60k stitches so give it time and dont rush the machine speed through the stripe transitions.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
