Knocked out a floating ghost design and its got that proper soft moody halloween feel I love. Single ghost figure suspended in midair, flowing tattered sheet body with tapered tendrils trailing off the bottom. No silly cartoon face here, just hollow eye shapes implied where the shading goes darker. The whole figure looks like its caught mid-drift.

The fun thing is the rendering. Instead of solid fills, the whole ghost comes together with fine sketchy parallel hatching lines that flow in the direction the sheet would be moving. Looks almost like a pencil drawing in thread which gives it a moody illustration book feel rather than a cheesy halloween cartoon look.

Four threads in cool tones do all the work. Pale silvery blue forms the base sheet colour, a slightly darker light blue handles the mid tone shading, deep navy carries the shadow areas in the eye hollows and folds, plus white traces the highlights along the trailing edges.

I drew this up last october after a customer messaged me asking for a halloween piece that wasnt the same old grinning ghost everyone sells. She wanted something a bit moodier for her vintage style merch. Honestly Ive been suprised how well its done year round on horror book club merch aswell.

Five sizes from 3.25 inch up to 6.97 inch tall. Stitches best on cream, oat or pale grey backgrounds where the cool blues read soft against the warm tone. Set a tearaway behind woven cotton, switch to mesh cutaway for any sweatshirt fleece. Skip dark fabric since the pale blue would just vanish.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cream linen pillow coversA mid size centred on a cream linen pillow cover sits nicely as a moody october decor swap without going full plastic halloween.
  • Vintage halloween book bagsStitch the mid-size 5 on the front of a natural canvas book bag for vintage halloween merch with a bookish edge.
  • Horror book club merch teesthe 4-in piece on the chest of plain pale grey tees works as merch for a horror book club or ghost story podcast.
  • Pale grey hoodie chest hitsPop the mid feature on the left chest of a pale grey hoodie for a soft daily halloween piece you can actually wear in november.
  • Ghost story zine cover panelsRun the small version on a square panel of oat cotton and bind it as a zine cover for a ghost story collection.
  • Oat cotton tea towel endsStitch the small one on the end of an oatmeal tea towel for a october kitchen swap that feels grown up.
  • Autumn bedroom wall hangingsThe largest size mounted on a hoop becomes a moody autumn wall hanging for a hallway or stairwell.
  • October candle wrap labelsPop the smallest version onto a strip of fabric and wrap it around a beeswax candle as a halloween night label.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
