Three monarch butterflies stack vertically down the composition, each one a bit different. The top butterfly is the smallest, wings spread wide, solid black satin borders with white negative space showing through where the wing veins are. The middle one is the biggest and most detailed, lower wings have a row of dot accents stitched along the trailing edge. The third sits at the bottom, partially cropped so it looks like its just entering from below. That staggered sizing is what stops the whole thing looking like a repeat pattern.

Between and around the butterflies two types of flowers fill the gaps. A large peony sits centred in the middle section, dense layered petals done in radiating outline lines so you can see every individual petal curling inward. Its a proper peony, not a generic circle blob. Two smaller blossoms with open stamens tuck below it, simpler five-petal outlines, and a few leaf shapes scatter throughout to connect everything.

I drew this one as a panel design, its meant to run tall on a vertical hoop. A customer stitched the biggest version on a cream linen apron last spring, centred down the bib panel, it looked like something from a boutique shop and cost her practically nothing. Smallest size is 3.51 wide by 2.32 inches tall, biggest is 7.51 wide by 4.96.

Works best on plain fabric in pale tones. White cotton, cream linen or light grey canvas all suit it. The solid wing sections read well on pale backgrounds, the open flower outlines need a bit of contrast beneath em too. Avoid patterned or dark fabric, you lose the fine petal line work fast on anything busy beneath it.

Hoop tight with a medium cutaway stabiliser, the mix of dense satin fill and fine outline work means the stabiliser needs to handle both ends. Run the outline flower sections at normal speed, slow down for the satin butterfly wing borders so the fill stays dense and even. At 14k stitches on the big size its not a small stitch out, so give it the time it needs. Message me if the file gives you any trouble and Ill send a replacement.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cream linen apron bib panel decorationStitch the large version centred down a cream linen apron bib for a gift that looks boutique without the boutique price
  • Tote bag side panel in pale canvasUse the medium on a pale canvas tote side panel so the vertical design runs top to bottom and fills the panel neatly
  • Bedroom cushion cover in white or cream cottonPop the large on a white cotton cushion for a bedroom that already has botanical or nature prints as its theme
  • Wedding gift tea towel decorationEmbroider the medium on a linen tea towel for a spring wedding gift paired with a handwritten note
  • Spring table runner embroideryStitch across a cream cotton table runner at each end for a spring table setup that reads fresh and light
  • Fashion tote or market bag with botanical stylePlace the large on a natural canvas market bag for someone who wants a fashion piece that doesnt look mass produced
  • Nursery wall hoop artUse the small size on white cotton, stretch it in a hoop and hang it as nursery wall art alongside other botanical hoops
  • Linen pouch or bag flap accentHoop onto a linen pouch flap so the butterflies spill down toward the zip line and the flowers sit above

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
