At 17,314 stitches on the largest run, theres alot going on inside this design even though it reads as one colour. The cat's head is packed with tight directional satin, almost like fur texture, while the body opens up into a traced botanical scene, curving stems, small daisy-type flowers and those rounded teardrop leaves that take a steady tatami underlay to sit flat. I used pro digitising software to map the density so the two zones stitch out without pulling against each other on the hoop.

Its a seated cat in profile, looking slightly away from you. Regal is the word. The tail wraps low around the base, and a single scrolling vine climbs from the neck down through the middle of the body. A seller wrote me last week after doing six canvas pouches with this feline on them, said they sold out by Saturday noon. Every leaf and flower sits inside the silhouette edge so the outline stays crisp on any fabric, dark or light.

Needs a cutaway stabiliser on stretchy tees but worth it because the satin head section is dense enough to show every directional line even on jersey. On linen or cotton twill the whole thing pops without much fuss. The 2 inch wide version fits on a small patch pocket or a baby bib front without crowding it.

Add a topping on velvet if youre going that route, the floral void areas need it or the pile swallows the detail. Skip the topping on flat weave fabrics. Try hooping a piece of denim first if youre unsure about tension, its forgiving and you can see exactly how the satin lays before you commit to the final project piece.

Use a 75/11 sharp needle on woven cotton or linen and drop to a 65/9 on thinner fabric. Center the design slightly higher than you think so the tail doesnt land too close to a hemline or seam. The jump stitch count between the botanical elements is low because I spent abit of extra time routing the path, which means fewer trims and a cleaner bobbin side.

Send me a quick note if the registration slips a touch.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Canvas tote bagNeeds a cutaway on stretchy material, but on canvas the 3.5 inch version sits flat with zero fuss.
  • Baby bib front panelThe 2 inch drops onto a bib front panel without crowding the edge stitching or snapping the fabric.
  • Cotton kitchen towelStitch it centred on a plain cotton kitchen towel and the black on white contrast comes out really crisp.
  • Jean jacket back yokeHoop the yoke area on denim, use a 75/11 needle and the satin head section comes out sharp.
  • Linen throw pillowOn a linen pillow cover the open botanical fill keeps the design from feeling too heavy or solid.
  • Craft fair patch pouchA weekend crafter told me she stitches these onto zip pouches and sells out every time at her local market.
  • Pet portrait wall hoopFrame it in a 6 inch wooden hoop with navy linen backing for a clean wall piece.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
