Mid-leap, nose pointed up and tail curving below, its body kinda arced in that classic breach shape. The blooms sit right at the top where the dorsal fin begins, three big flowers in yellow, red-orange, and coral pink, with dark green leaves tucked between em. The body shades sky blue down to navy on the belly and fins, with a sand-coloured throat stripe running underneath. Thirteen colours total and 12 colour changes across the stitch run.

I digitised this one with the floral sections in satin columns so the petals have that slightly raised, velvety feel when youre running your finger across em. The body uses tatami fill with directional stitching along the curves so the blue shading reads like light catching a real dolphins back. The outlines are bold black which kinda ties the whole thing together, beach poster style. Honestly one of my favourite combinations Ive done, flowers plus ocean animal just really works.

A marine sanctuary gift shop on the coast reached out last march about using this for their volunteer appreciation caps. They ran the 4.5-inch version on navy structured caps and those coral and butter blooms popped hard against the dark brim. They ordered a second batch three weeks later so Im guessing those caps went fast.

Stitch on white, cream or sky blue fabric for best impact. Warm petal colours get completely lost on busy patterned cotton so choose a plain ground. Use a cutaway stabiliser on the floral section because the satin columns need firm backing or the petals curl at the edges. Pop the 3.5-inch size on tote bag pockets or canvas cosmetic pouches. Avoid stretchy swimwear fabric even though the ocean theme tempts ya, its density is just too high for stretch.

Densest zones are the petals and the upper body fill. Run a slower machine speed through those sections. The full 7-inch size tops out at 86k stitches so plan for about 20 minutes of stitch time. Reach out if the file gives you any colour-order issues on your machine and ill check the sequence and adjust it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Marine sanctuary volunteer caps and giftsStitch the 4.5-inch version on structured navy caps for a marine sanctuary gift shop and the flower crown reads bright against dark fabric.
  • Beach town boutique tote bagsUse the medium size on a cream canvas tote for beach town boutique retail, kinda beachy and different from the usual shell prints.
  • Coastal wedding favour pouchesEmbroider the small 3.5-inch size on linen favour pouches for a coastal wedding and tie each one with a raffia bow.
  • Girls summer camp shirtsPop the 5-inch version on white cotton tees for girls summer ocean camp, 13 colours make each shirt feel genuinely custom.
  • Swimwear cover-up decorationRun the smaller size on the chest pocket of a linen cover-up for beach boutique stock, lightweight fabric needs firm tearaway underneath.
  • Nursery wall hoops for ocean themesHoop the 6-inch in a 9-inch wooden frame and hang it as nursery wall art for a dolphin or mermaid themed babys room.
  • Surf school team gearStitch the medium size on white polo shirts for a surf school team uniform, the floral touch softens the athletic look.
  • Canvas cosmetic bags for beach loversEmbroider the 3.5-inch on a cream canvas cosmetic pouch for a beach gift set and it ships beautifully with ocean-scented products.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
