Pulled this together as something for people who want halloween without it being all skulls and orange. Its a ghost but surrounded by wildflowers -- daisies, stems, little buds and leaf sprigs growing up on both sides like its been standing in a garden long enough for things to grow around it. The whole image is single black thread, so every bit of detail in the botanicals comes from the outline work and satin fill rather than colour contrast. Thats the whole challenge and also why it looks as good as it does when its stitched out.

This is the biggest design in this collection -- 3 sizes from 5 to 7 inches with 10,725 stitches at the small end and 14,972 scaled to 7 inch. 41 trims in the 5-inch run so this one keeps the machine busy for a while. Use a heavy cutaway stabiliser and lay a water-soluble film over fleece -- the fine botanical stem lines blur on fluffy fabric without it. Wilcom handled the digitising with directional satin on the ghost outline and consistent 308 density across all the botanical stems and petals.

Stitch the 5-inch on a denim jacket back panel for a fall botanical statement. Use the 7-inch centred on a large canvas market tote. Pop the 6-inch on a natural linen hoop for a halloween wall piece. Avoid white fabric on white bobbin -- the satin outline is single-colour black so the contrast fabric does all the work here. One customer grabbed the 6-inch file last october and said the floral detail suprised everyone at how sharp it read for a single-colour design. Its the kind of thing that looks more involved than it actually is to run. Text me if you need anything and Ill get back to you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Large canvas tote bags and market bagsThe 5 or 6-inch size fills a large canvas tote front beautifully -- the botanical framing means no extra decoration needed around it
  • Halloween sweatshirts and adult halloween apparelCentred on the back of a dark sweatshirt the 7-inch version works as a statement halloween design without being cartoonish
  • Embroidery hoop wall art for halloween home decorIn a 7-inch natural linen hoop this makes a botanical halloween wall piece that works in non-halloween decor too
  • Denim jackets and jean pockets for fall seasonal wearThe all-black single-thread design looks sharp on the back panel of a denim jacket for an autumn look
  • Halloween throw pillow covers in black or cream linenStitched on natural or off-white linen the black botanicals give a gothic pressed-flower feel to halloween pillows
  • Framed embroidery as a botanical halloween giftFramed in a simple black frame at the 5-inch size this makes an unusual halloween gift for embroidery and plant lovers

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
