Eight-sided octagon frame in fine outline, with two mirrored floral clusters tucked at the top-left and bottom-right corners. Each cluster has three or four five-petal anemone flowers, a handful of slender pointed leaves, and a couple of trailing stems running along the octagon edges. The geometry of the octagon stays visible behind the flowers, you can count all eight sides clearly, which gives the whole composition an architectural feel that the round and pentagon versions of this frame dont share.

Single colour, black thread, one stop. Density runs at 148 so its mostly running outline with a double-run hugging each side of the geometric border so the shape pulls crisp. Sizes ladder from 3.13 to 6.71 inch wide, height 3.5 to 7.5 inch, stitch counts go 4,172 on the small up to 7,445 on the largest. I built it in Wilcom with triple-run reinforcement on the eight straight edges of the octagon, single-run on the petal and leaf veins so they read delicate. Light tearaway stabiliser handles it fine on cotton and linen.

I get messages about this design from people doing stationery-inspired projects, last month one customer ordered it for a series of address-marker hoops she sells at a flea market. She stitched the 5 inch on natural canvas and wrote each house number in the middle in a thick black fabric marker. Said the octagon shape made the markers look like they belonged on a porch or letter slot.

Stitch on linen, cotton lawn, broadcloth, light canvas, cotton sateen. Avoid napped fleece or terry, theres no way the running outline holds against the pile. Skip stretch jersey, youll watch the corners warp if the fabric pulls hard. Pair with a centred number, name, address or short word in a contrast colour like sage, charcoal or warm cocoa. The 5 inch size hoops easy in a 5x5 frame and youve got around 1.5 inches of clean centre area to drop your lettering. Im running this one on cream linen alot lately and it never lets me down.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
