An open book sits at the bottom of the design, spine in the middle, pages fanned out either side. From the pages all sorts of wildflowers and greenery shoot upward, filling the space above with red poppies, yellow daisies, big green daisy-type blooms, clover leaves and thin leaf sprigs. Over all that, curving in an arch, the phrase teach them, love them, watch them grow is written in a flowing script. Its a lot happening in one space but it reads clearly because the book anchors everything at the base.

5 colours: lime green, red, golden yellow, black for outlines and white for the page fill. Stitch counts go from 28,551 at the smallest 4.4-inch width up to 38,090 at the full 8-inch version. Density is 819 which is medium-heavy, so use a proper cutaway stabiliser if youre stitching on canvas or anything with any stretch at all. Three sizes in this design rather than the usual 5, so pick the one closest to your hoop frame.

I designed this one thinking of primary school teachers and library volunteers. Stitched one sample on a cream canvas tote for my sisters friend whos a year 3 teacher and last month she told me shes been stopped in the corridor about it three times in one week. People keep asking where the bag is from. Email me if the colours need adjusting or the file gives any hassle on your machine.

Stitch on cream, oatmeal or natural linen and those green and red tones really sing. The 8-inch on the front of a large canvas tote is genuinely lovely. Also works on a quilted book sleeve or a fabric journal cover if you pad the back with felt before hooping. Skip textured or knit fabrics because the fine script lettering needs a flat ground to sit cleanly. Dont rush the stitching on the arched text section, slow your machine down a touch on the script curves. Email me on chat if anything looks wrong after download and Ill resend it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Library volunteer tote bagsLibrary volunteer carrying the 8-inch on a natural canvas tote gets stopped at the book fair by customers wanting to buy the bag.
  • Teacher appreciation canvas bagsA teacher gift tote in oatmeal linen is something I see ordered as a group contribution at end of every school year.
  • School library display cushions10-inch wooden hoop with this framed inside it. Hangs above a classroom reading corner without looking like shop decor.
  • Book club fabric journal coversFabric journal cover with thin foam padding between lining and shell. The 5-inch sits padded and gift-ready for book club.
  • Classroom wall hoop artReading nook wall art on pale oatmeal. The small size at 4.4 inches wide keeps it from overwhelming a small corner.
  • Reading corner decorative quiltsQuilted lap blanket with the design on a centre panel. Standout raffle prize at any school event with a reading theme.
  • Primary school fundraiser merchandiseSchool term-end market stalls. Bookish gifts sell fast and this one moves quickly on cream cotton totes at gift pricing.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
