Im a big fan of designs that do two things at once, and this one does exactly that. Its a paw print outline shape, but inside each toe section and the main pad theres swirling floral vine scrolls with five-petal flowers and leaf curls winding through them, all in open outline style. Then right below the bottom of the paw, sitting on its own, theres the word love in a loopy hand-drawn cursive that matches the scroll energy of the florals. Its a pet design and a botanical design and a love sentiment all in one piece.
Everything runs in a single colour, black, so theres no colour change to deal with, no thread swap mid-job. The outline construction keeps things light and airy, which is what makes the vine scrolls inside each pad section read so cleanly without turning into a heavy blob. Stitch count is 15,750 on the 5-inch up to 23,765 on the 8-inch, so its genuinely on the lighter side for a design this size. Youll get clean stitching on lighter fabrics without any puckering around the scroll work.
Drop it on white, cream, pale blush, soft grey. Really any light colour lets the black outline pop the way it should. Works great on dark colours too if youre running a light thread, just swap to white or ivory and the open scrollwork reads just as well. A few weeks back a customer told me they needed it for a pet adoption fundraiser and wanted it on tote bags, which is honestly one of the best uses Ive seen.
Use a no-show stabiliser behind wovens and a light cutaway on knit tees. The vine outline work and the cursive love script both have fine line sections, so you want the hoop steady. Best results on a tight hoop with no slack in the fabric. Skip cheap stabiliser on jersey, the directional scroll stitches pull easily on stretch.
