So this isnt a solid filled heart at all. The heart shape is built entirely from curling vine scrollwork, the kind of flowing line you see in lace or cutwork embroidery. There are what look like butterfly wing shapes spreading outward from the upper curves of the heart, and extra tendrils and small leaf forms curling away at the bottom. The centre stays open so whatever fabric is underneath shows through. Really graceful design.
Single red thread the whole way through, no colour changes needed. The density is 488 and the satin columns trace every curve with directional fill that follows the direction of each scroll, which keeps the finish clean rather than looking like a random fill pattern. Smallest size is 3.51 inches wide at 11,340 stitches, largest stretches to 7.51 inches wide at 22,088 stitches.
And people who love traditional embroidery aesthetics really respond to this one. A customer who makes valentines homeware ordered the 6 inch version on white cotton, had it framed in a round hoop, and told me it sold out at her February market stall before noon on the first day. So thats a good sign.
Works especially well on white linen, cream cotton muslin, or any light neutral fabric where the red thread really stands out. The open lace effect shows the fabric through so the colour and texture underneath become part of the finished look. Tearaway works under woven cotton, cutaway if youre stitching on denser fabric like canvas or denim. Dont skip the stabiliser just because the density looks low, the scrollwork satin columns need good backing.
Pick a white or cream linen and the whole thing reads like antique lace. Pop it on a dark fabric and youve got a completely different feel, rich and dramatic rather than delicate.
What people are using this design for

- White linen table runner accentStitched along the end of a white linen table runner it lifts a simple table setting for a valentines dinner without much effort.
- Valentines cushion cover centrepieceCentred on an ivory cushion cover the open-centre lace look adds texture without covering the whole surface.
- Bridal accessory or favour bagOn a small white satin favour bag for a bridal shower it has that elegant handmade touch that printed bags cant replicate.
- Handmade valentines card backingOn the back of a handmade valentines card in cotton or linen it makes the card itself feel like a keepsake worth keeping.
- Cotton handkerchief corner detailA small version in the corner of a cotton handkerchief is a traditional and personal gift that costs very little to make.
- Apron bib decorative motifStitched on the bib of a linen apron as a decorative motif it sits beautifully and doesnt get in the way of the apron function.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
