Worked up this design as a decorative take on the pumpkin shape, where scrollwork fills the gourd body instead of plain satin. The whole pumpkin carries curlicues and floral swirls at the outer edge and the looping tendrils go upward from the top, green and branching like something off a painted ceramic. Its folk-art adjacent, the kind of thing you see on vintage kitchen linens.
2 colours, a forest green top section at 3,190 stitches and the orange-red scroll body at 6,138 stitches for the smallest size. 5 sizes from 3 inches up to 7 inches wide, total stitch range 9,330 at the smallest to 22,577 at the largest. 1 colour change, 2 stops, 22 trims. Wilcom EmbroideryStudio digitising means the satin in the scroll elements has proper underlay so the curls dont flatten out mid-hoop. Use cutaway stabiliser on anything with any give in the weave. Avoid tearaway on stretch or knit fabrics entirely.
Theres alot of satin column density in this one despite only 2 colours. The scroll fill runs the pumpkin body edge to edge, so the density sits closer to a solid filled design than an outline. Keep your bobbin tension consistent and youll be fine.
One customer reached out last october wanting it for autumn home decor and craft market stock. They emailed me a photo of the 4-inch version on a set of linen drawstring bags they made for market and it looked genuinely clean, the scrollwork held well at that size. Try this at 5-inch size across burlap-texture fabric in burnt sienna poly thread for a market-ready piece. Run the 6-inch on an oatmeal linen tea towel with the forest green tendrils at the top and itll look hand-painted rather than machine-made.
