The mama letters run across the bottom in fat retro bubble shapes, 9 thread colours going from a deep red on the outer M's to a warm orange on the middle A's. Flowers grow straight up from the top of each letter like the letters are planters, cream daisies, orange open-face blooms, hot pink clusters and smaller purple buds all jumbled together. Butterflies sit in between the stems and there are those little 4-pointed star sparkles dotted through the whole thing. I've been digitising floral name designs for a while now and this one gets more last-minute mothers day orders than almost anything else in the shop.

Wilcom EmbroideryStudio digitising, 9 colour stops with 8 colour changes. Comes in 6 sizes from 4.22 x 5 inches right up to 8.43 x 10 inches. Stitch counts run from 28,169 at the smallest to 66,212 at the largest, so the big size has alot of thread in it and needs a secure hoop. Use cutaway stabiliser on knits and stretchy tees, tearaway works fine on a stable cotton twill. The satin columns on those large letters run directional fill rows so slow your machine down a bit if youre stitching the 8 inch version, especially on the first pass to check tension before you commit the whole piece.

One customer last month stitched the 7 inch version onto a denim jacket back and sent me a photo, honestly looked like something youd pay $80 for at a boutique. Run topping film over the floral section if youre going onto terry cloth or thick fleece so the underlay threads dont get swallowed up by the pile. Pair with a matching bobbin colour that sits close to your base fabric so any bobbin pullthrough stays invisible on lighter materials.

Hoop a cotton sweatshirt, the 6 inch sits nicely at chest centre without pulling. Pop the 5 inch on a canvas tote for a quick practical gift. Use the 10 inch for a large floor cushion or a lap blanket corner. Skip very thin organza or voile, the stitch density needs fabric with enough body to sit flat without puckering.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Mothers day sweatshirt or hoodie giftHoop a french terry sweatshirt at chest centre, 6 inch size fills the space without pulling the seams.
  • Mama tote bag in canvas or cottonCanvas tote at 8 inches gives a bold statement piece mama will use every day for groceries.
  • Denim jacket back or chest panelDenim jacket back panel at the largest size looks boutique-level, stabilise with cutaway and stitch slow.
  • Kitchen apron for mumCentre it on an apron bib using the 5 inch size, cotton twill base takes the density cleanly.
  • Pillow cover or floor cushion centrepiece14-inch cotton canvas pillow cover at the largest size, hoop tight and run underlay before the fill layers.
  • Framed linen hoop art for the homeHoop pale linen in a 10 inch hoop, stitch the 7 inch version, pop a frame over it for instant wall art.
  • Baby shower gift blanket from the kidsStitch the smallest size on a corner of a fleece blanket as part of a keepsake gift set.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
