It looks like someone stuck a bird in an electrical socket. The body is a tight round ball with wild feathers shooting off in every direction, the outer ones long and spiky in teal-blue and near-black, the inner crown a fluffy pale-blue explosion across the top. Honestly its the most unhinged-looking owl Ive made, and thats exactly the point.

The face is what sells it: two huge circular eyes with deep-brown iris rings, a tiny pink-orange beak barely poking out below, and an expression thats somewhere between bewildered and mildly offended. Sandy-tan belly, warm brown shading at the sides, small orange feet planted flat at the base. The shadow underneath gives it just enough grounding so it doesnt float. Twelve thread colours, with colour changes at 11 stops during the stitch-out.

A density around 1,655 stitches per square inch means the feather layers build up real texture on fabric. Stick mid-weight cutaway behind any stretchy fabric because theres a lot going on in the outer feather tips. Nine sizes from 3.5 and scales out to 7.51 inch wide, stitch counts from 38,407 up to 88,123. Hoop it on a canvas tote or a zip hoodie and the feather detail really pays off at the bigger sizes. Pop it on a kids backpack at the 4-inch size and youll see what I mean. My customers love this one for kids backpacks and novelty pouches, it gets a reaction every time. Last christmas a customer ordered it on a whole set of zip pouches as gifts and it looked brilliant. Any issues with the file just send me a message, ill sort it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Embroidered on a canvas tote or book bagThe round compact shape centers well on a tote front without needing much repositioning
  • Stitched onto a zip hoodie chest or sleeveOn a hoodie chest at around 4 to 5 inches it looks like a proper illustrated patch
  • Used on a kids backpack as a fun focal patchKids backpacks love character designs with personality, and this one has plenty
  • Placed on a throw pillow cover for a quirky living room accentAt the 7-inch size it fills a standard 14-inch pillow panel really nicely
  • Added to a baby blanket or nursery hoop artThe expression gives nursery items a playful non-cutesy edge that parents appreciate
  • Embroidered on a flat-cap or dad hat front panelThe vertical proportions fit a cap crown panel almost perfectly at the 3.5-inch size
  • Used on a library tote or book lover accessoryPairs well with reading or bookish themes because of the classic owl-wisdom association

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
