Ten colours and its an actually complex design, not ten-colours-on-a-simple-cartoon complex. The wings are the technically interesting part. Instead of filling them solid, the digitising uses a lighter open density on the gossamer sections so they read translucent from a normal viewing distance. The outer wing edges get a single satin outline, the inner fill runs at much lower density, and that combination is what gives the illusion of a real fairy wing rather than a flat purple patch. The dress has directional satin work on the folds to give them volume.

Five sizes, 3.5 scaling to 7.5 inches wide, 2.31 to 4.94 inches tall. Its a wider-than-tall design because of the wing spread. At 7.5 inches youre running 14,885 stitches with 10 colour stops. For a detailed 10-colour piece thats actually a very manageable stitch count because those sparse wing sections dont rack up stitches the way solid fills do. Plan for the full colour sequence though, it takes time to work through 10 threads.

I made this one originally for a customer last spring who was doing a girls birthday party batch and wanted something that didnt look like clip art. Shes been buying the file every birthday season since. The wing detail is what customers mention most when they write to me about it, which honestly Im still alittle suprised by because I expected people to talk about the dress colours first.

Use a cutaway stabiliser, not tearaway. Ten-colour detailed work needs a stable base that doesnt degrade. A medium-weight cutaway on cotton or a light cutaway on thinner fabric. Add topping on fleece or velboa plush. Skip very stretchy knit fabric for this one, the fine alignment needs a firm base to hold.

Pick a light or pastel fabric background so the lavender, pink, and ivory dress colours come through clearly. Dark backgrounds kill the detail on this design because the lighter colour fills dont have enough contrast.

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Princess and fairy costume accessoriesCanvas backpack front panel in pale blue, the 5-inch build reads like fairy-tale illustration art at that scale.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
