This one is a full patriotic unicorn head, and its got a lot going on in the best way. The face sits in the center with big blue satin-filled five-pointed stars fanning out from the sides like wings, or maybe like fireworks mid-burst, its hard to tell and I think thats what makes it work. Right on top of the unicorn sits this tall striped hat, red and white vertical stripes with a blue star-panel band near the base, basically a tiny American flag converted into a party hat. Blue feathery lashes line the bottom of the face and smaller red and blue stars are scattered all around the outside of the composition.

Three colours: white for the face fills, a pure royal blue (R2 G65 B255) for the stars and lashes, and red for the hat stripes and the scattered accent stars. Stitch count runs from 14,082 on the smallest up to 27,277 on the biggest, so the larger sizes carry some real weight to them. Density sits at 722 which is on the high side, cutaway stabiliser is not optional here, use it. A 75/11 or 80/12 sharp needle works better then a ballpoint on the dense star fills. All 4 sizes share the same 3-stop colour sequence so you dont have to re-thread mid-run.

I get messages every July asking for something unicorn-meets-patriotic, especially people making outfits for their daughters. Last summer I sold a bunch to mums doing red cotton tees for the 4th and they sent photos from the parade. The blue stars really pop against that red ground, so I know the colour blocking holds up in real use and not just on screen.

Use a tearaway under lighter fabrics like quilting cotton or a standard tee, but switch to cutaway on any stretch knit or fleece. Pop it on white or navy for the cleanest contrast. Keep the white fill thread at medium tension, the density here means a loose top thread will cause pooling in the star fills. And if anything in the file gives you trouble just shoot me a note and Ill fix it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids 4th of July tshirtsThe 4-inch size centres on a kids cotton tee for a parade outfit without being heavy on a small chest.
  • Patriotic baby onesiesAt the smallest size it fits a baby onesie chest and makes a patriotic gift for a July 4th newborn.
  • Holiday tote bagsA canvas tote with the 7-inch version on the front is a practical bag people reuse well past the holiday.
  • Girls party hat accessoriesStitched on a structured felt hat it makes a unicorn-themed Fourth of July wearable for girls at parties.
  • Red white blue quilt blocksThe red white and blue palette works as a standalone quilt block patch on a patriotic patchwork project.
  • July 4th pillow coversOn a white pillow cover the three-colour composition reads like a centrepiece for a July 4th table.
  • Parade day backpacksThe 5-inch version on a canvas backpack front makes a personalised parade bag for kids to carry snacks.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
