This bird is a proper nutter. Round little body, 9 colours, feathers shooting out in every direction like it just got zapped, and these massive bug-eyes that take up half its face. The colour mix is what makes it pop, teal and daffodil yellow and this warm caramel brown all crammed into one cheeky character. The beak's long and pointy which adds to the whole unhinged look. Its kind of impossible not to smile at it, honestly.

Eight colour changes to get through, so back it with a good quality cutaway stabiliser before you start. Use a medium-weight cutaway on cotton, heavier on fleece. The stitch count hits 41,147 on the 7.49 inch size which is a lot, but thats where all the feather detail lives. Runs from 3.5 inches wide up to 7.49 inches, small pocket badge up to full front-panel on a kids jumper. Stitch it slow through the eye area and dont rush the thread stops or you'll get skips in the whites.

My daughter stitched this on a plain white tee for her little cousin's birthday last summer and the kid absolutely lost his head over it. She used the 4 inch version and it sat right in the centre of the chest like it was made for it. Load up your 9 threads and give it a go. Ping me if you run into any format trouble and I'll sort you out.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids birthday tee shirts as a one-off giftThe bright colours translate brilliantly onto white or light grey jersey fabric at the 4 to 5 inch range.
  • Baby bibs and toddler rompersSmaller sizes at 3.5 inches fit baby bibs well without overwhelming the item.
  • Cotton tote bags for bird loversBird lovers who collect themed tote bags tend to go for the medium sizes around four inches.
  • Embroidery hoop art for a child's bedroomStretched on a 7 inch hoop with a white mat it looks like proper nursery art.
  • School bags and pencil casesPencil case placement at the smaller sizes gives kids something fun that stands out.
  • Funny novelty patches for jackets or jeansIron-on patches work if you use a cutaway base, the detail holds after washing.
  • Pillowcases and cushion covers for a playroomThe wide colour palette means it sits well on plain white or cream cushion covers.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
