At 53,426 stitches on the largest size, this ones a proper workout for your machine. The feathers use tight directional satin runs, each colour shooting out at its own angle so they dont clump together under the needle. Theres a polka-dot bow sitting dead centre on the head, stitched with a satin underlay to keep those white dots crisp against the hot pink, and the big cartoon eyes use circular tatami fill for the grey sclera before the golden yellow irises go on top. Its dense, and that density gives the design that punchy stuffed look you want.

The humour sits right inside the stitch file. Below the face you get bold block text in black satin, "I may look calm but in my head Ive pecked you 3 times," and it reads sharp from across the room on a 6 inch hoop. Last week a woman who coaches little kids in a farm-themed classroom wrote to me saying she hooped it onto a canvas pouch and the whole class lost it when they saw the quote. That kind of reaction is exactly why I made this. Six colours swap through in total: cobalt blue, hot pink, golden yellow, forest green, black, and orange for that beak.

Needs a cutaway stabiliser on stretchy jersey tees but worth it once its hooped tight, the feather points wont gap on you. Use a topping on fleece or any looped terry fabric so the fill stitches sit above the pile. Pop it on denim at the 5 inch size and the text lands just right under the design without crowding the hem. Skip the tear-away for canvas totes or twill aprons, those fabrics need something sturdier underneath to hold all that jump stitch travel between the feather spikes. Iron the back flat after you pull it out of the hoop.

Flag me down if the trims run long on your setup.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids birthday teeNeeds a cutaway on stretchy tees but worth it, the feather points hold clean on cotton jersey once its hooped firm.
  • Canvas pencil pouchCanvas takes all six colours beautifully, hoop it at the 5 inch size and the text sits right under the face.
  • Denim apronDenim aprons are probably my favourite fabric for this, the bold satin block letters read sharp against the weave.
  • Farm-theme classroom toteStitch it onto a natural cotton tote and the whole sassy text line does the talking on its own.
  • Cotton tea towelCentre it below the towel hem on a plain white cotton tea towel, that golden yellow beak pops against the white.
  • Fleece zip hoodieUse a topping on fleece so those directional satin feathers dont sink into the pile during stitching.
  • Twill cap front panelThe smallest size at just over 3 inches fits a twill cap front without crowding the brim.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
