Its a round, fluffy little chicken with the most desperate expression youve ever seen on a bird. Two giant googly eyes stare straight out at you. The beak is open just enough to look like its sighing. And it's clutching a rough wooden post with both stubby wings, holding up a chunky sign that says LOVE ME? in big hand-lettered black text. The whole thing is cartoon, obviously, but the stitching detail on the feathers is actually really well done.

Body feathers are built from short directional satin segments that layer over each other to get that shaggy, puffed-up rooster shape. Brown goes from a mid tawny shade in the chest out to darker tips on the wing edges. Red satin fills the comb and the little wattle hanging below the beak. The sign itself uses a tatami fill for the wood grain with outline details that give it a planks-nailed-together look. Thirteen colours total, 1,156 stitches per square inch density, so its dense enough to read sharp at the large sizes.

Nine sizes ranging from 3.46 by 3.5 inches up to 7.42 by 7.5, so you can run the small on a child-sized shirt pocket or go full front on a sweatshirt. Stitch counts climb from 23,387 on the smallest right up to 64,356 on the big version. A customer who keeps backyard chickens orderd this last autumn to put on aprons she gives her hens-night guests, and she said the sign text still reads legibly even on the 4-inch version. So the text scaling is solid. And honestly the googly eyes kind of get more unhinged looking the smaller you go, which is half the charm.

Use a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser for knit fabrics and dense woven cotton. Hoop tight so none of those feather fills pull sideways during colour changes. Pick a mid-value background, something like natural cream, sage or soft grey, so the warm browns in the feathers dont fight the fabric. Skip dark charcoal or black backgrounds as the brown feather detail wont separate well from the base. Topping helps on fleece or any fabric with a visible texture.

The density on this one is high so stitch it at your machines standard speed rather than full tilt. Give the stabiliser time to hold everything flat between the 13 colour stops. Pull stitches clean after each change and youll end up with crisp outlines and that hand-lettered sign reading exactly as it should.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
