Dancing animals are popular for a reason, and honestly this penguin is just fun to stitch. Hes mid-move, one flipper up, one out wide, feet turned like hes doing something between a waltz and a wobble. Seven colours: the standard black and white penguin body, orange beak and feet, a bright yellow scarf wrapped around the neck, and a couple of warm accent tones for the cheek and expression details. The density sits at 1085 which gives the satin coverage real solidity and keeps the pale breast area cleanly separated from the dark outer sections.

Five sizes from 2.61 by 3.5 inches at 14436 stitches up to 5.59 by 7.49 inches at 45433 stitches. Use a medium cutaway stabiliser on knits and t-shirts -- 1085 density at the large size needs proper backing. Add a topping on anything fluffy so the cream belly satin doesnt sink into the pile texture. Pair your bobbin thread to a mid-grey for cleaner edge definition on darker sections. Skip the tearaway on stretchy fabrics, it wont hold enough at this stitch count.

Kids clothes and winter items are where this one lives. One customer used it on alot of matching fleece toddler hats as gifts last december and it looked incredible across a bunch of different thread colours. The 3.5-inch version on a kids sweatshirt chest is probably the most popular placement, sitting nicely below the collar. Also works well on lunch bags, patches, and holiday gift bags. Stitch it in navy on the darker sections if you want a slightly softer look on lighter fabrics.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids sweatshirt or hoodie chestThe 3.5-inch version on a kids sweatshirt chest sits perfectly below the neckline, use cutaway on all knit fabrics.
  • Toddler winter hat or beanieStitch on a fleece toddler beanie using topping to keep the satin crisp on the looped fabric texture.
  • Novelty lunch bag decorationRun it on a canvas lunch bag front, 7 colours look great against red, navy, or bright yellow backgrounds.
  • Holiday gift bag for penguin fanSmall gift bags for penguin-themed holiday presents, use the 2.61-inch size on cotton fabric bags.
  • Funny patch for denim jacketIron-on patch with cutaway backing on a denim jacket, the dance pose design is a good conversation-starter.
  • Kids bedroom pillow or cushionThe 5.59-inch version fills a small throw pillow front, woven cotton or canvas holds the dense stitch count best.
  • School bag or backpack front panelPut the 4-inch size on a school backpack front panel, bright colours hold up well even on dark background fabrics.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
