This scruffy cat has had a rough morning. Its long-necked and the wild spiky fur goes in 11 different directions at once, and those big white eyes are staring at ya like it just saw something it cant explain. The body is one long scraggly column of wispy black strokes tapering down from a lil pile of messy ground shadow. Honestly its kind of amazing. Only 2 colours, black and white, so the whole thing is stitching speed. No thread swaps mid-run which is a bonus for people who hate babysitting their machine. Stitch count tops at around 18k on the biggest size which is managable.
The secret is how my software handled the linework, loads of running stitches and loose satin columns doing the flyaway fur, so it doesnt look flat like youd expect from a 2-colour job. Drop this on a black tee in the 6-inch size and the white shows up sharp. Pop a 3-in mini on a tote pocket or a mug-rug and the scruffy cat expression still reads from a distance. Ive been selling this to cat lovers, graphic tee makers and a few pet photographers who use it on their studio promo bags. A customer wrote me last month saying her whole cat-person friend group wanted one on a sweatshirt after she posted a photo.
Use a medium woven cutaway for on woven or linen. Skip stretchy fabrics here because the thin running stitch lines will pull and warp on jersey. The white areas are the bobbin side showing through so keep your bobbin thread bright white or you lose the contrast. Its just 2 colours but those 2 colours need to be right. Pair it with a solid colour, grey, olive, black, cream all work well. Ping me if anything looks off when stitched out.
