Back in september a customer wrote me asking if Id make a ghost design that would work on a baby onesie, something sweet, not scary, and quick to stitch. Six thousand five hundred and twenty-nine stitches, 4 colours, Wilcom, 2.88 x 3.5 inches. Density is just 100, which is about as light as I digitise anything, so it sits on lightweight cotton and jersey without any drag or distortion.

Pair poly-mesh under any woven fabric, a light cutaway on knit or jersey. The rounded ghost figure is a clean satin fill with minimal underlay needed at this density, dont over-stabilise or the soft flowing hem edge will stitch stiff instead of smooth. The bow perched on top has its own small satin sections in the second colour, so let the machine run the full colour pass before you trim. Avoid dark fabrics if youre wanting the white fill to pop, a light base is what makes the 4-colour palette read clearly.

I get asks about this one every october, mostly from grandmas and aunties stitching it onto baby halloween outfits. One customer sent me a photo last halloween, she put it on six matching pale pink onesies for a sisters twin babies and two sets of cousins for a family photo. Absolutely sweet. The small stitch count means its fast enough to stitch multiples in a sitting, which is why people keep ordering batches for gifting.

Pick a pale pink, lavender, white or light blue base so the cream ghost figure and bow colours show properly. Light cotton interlock and fine jersey both digitise well at density 100, they wont distort and theyll wash well after stitching.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Girls halloween sweatshirt chestGirls sweatshirt left chest for a 4 to 10 year old who wants cute not scary, the bow makes the ghost feel like a character she owns.
  • Toddler trick-or-treat bag patchInfant cotton bib for a halloween outfit where the bib is the safest place to put the design given how babies interact with bibs.
  • Kids Halloween hair bow backingHair bow clip backing, stitch on stiff felt, trim to a strip, and glue to a 3-inch hair clip blank for a handmade halloween accessory.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
