Gonna be honest, this one took me a while to get right. Nine colours at 17,285 stitches with a density of 255 is the real thing, not a simple fill job. The ghost chef sits 3.5 inches wide by 3 inches tall, and every one of those stitches pulls its weight. Wilcom handled the digitising and the layering on the ghost body shadows uses proper directional satin so it reads as a rounded shape rather than a flat white blob.

I had a customer send me a message last november saying she runs a catering company and wanted matching halloween aprons for her whole team. She recieved the file, stitched about 20 of em on black aprons and said the ghost came out exactly how she wanted. Black or deep navy works best, the white ghost really pops against dark fabric, and the orange and yellow-brown steam details come through clean. Use a medium-to-heavy cutaway stabiliser here because of the stitch density, you dont want anything shifting mid-run at 17k stitches.

Add a topping layer on any textured woven fabric to keep the fill areas smooth. Check the bobbin tension before you start, high-density fills at 255 are where tension problems show first. Avoid stretchy fabrics if you can, the density on this ghost chef suits woven cotton, denim or canvas much better than knit.

Stitch it on halloween chef coats, kitchen aprons, tote bags for a baking class, or a childs costume shirt for a kinda spooky-cook vibe. People have been buying this for halloween parties at restaurants, bakery staff costumes, and even a haunted house kitchen prop. Send me a note if anything looks off in the file and Ill look into it for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween chef apron left chestLeft chest placement on a black twill apron, medium-to-heavy cutaway stabiliser recommended for the 17285-stitch density.
  • Black cotton kitchen towel cornerOn a black cotton kitchen towel, hoop firmly with cutaway and topping to keep the fine steam detail crisp.
  • Catering staff halloween costume shirtOn cotton chef coats or twill shirts, use cutaway stabiliser; check bobbin tension before running 9-colour sequence.
  • Child cook costume front panelCentre on a child's costume shirt with firm cutaway stabiliser; 3.5 by 3 inch size fits a size 6-10 chest well.
  • Halloween baking class tote bagStitch on canvas tote using medium cutaway; the ghost reads well even at this scale on a bag front panel.
  • Restaurant party uniform placementOn work-uniform shirts use cutaway stabiliser and slow the machine speed on high-density ghost fill sections.
  • Denim tote bag centre motifCentre on a denim tote with cutaway stabiliser and water-soluble topping for clean fill edges on the denim texture.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
