Paired character designs are harder to get right at small sizes, the challenge is making both figures read clearly without one swallowing the other. Ive done a lot of halloween duos and this one at 23,891 stitches across 12 colours at a density of 349 is genuinely one of the better ones. The reaper hood stitching runs in a radial direction from the centre of the hood outward, which is the detail that makes the fabric fold of the cloak read as a real shape rather than a flat patch of dark thread, at 3.5 inches wide it actually holds.
I get messages from customers every october about halloween duo designs for matching sibling items, which is honestly one of my favourite uses. One side of the composition is slightly lighter in stitch density, the ghost sits softer and the dark figure anchors the other side, so if youre stitching on a pale fabric each character reads separately. Use medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser on all fabric types, 23,891 stitches wont behave well on tearaway alone, itll shift and distort on anything with texture.
Stitch it on tote bags, sweatshirts, kids shirts, or fabric panels for wall art. The twelve colour palette means decent prep time at your machine before each run, so pull all your thread colours out first. Avoid thin or loosely woven fabrics at density 349, they cant support the stitch count without cutaway. The 3.5 inch width fits a standard left chest hoop placement perfectly, and the near-square proportions work well centred on bag front panels aswell.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Matching sibling halloween shirt setMatching sibling halloween shirts, one kid gets the ghost, the other gets the reaper, one design covers both characters on the same composition.
- Left chest sweatshirt halloween duoLeft chest on a black fleece sweatshirt where the ghost reads pale and the reaper anchors the darker side, the contrast does all the work.
- Halloween tote bag centre panelCanvas treat bag front for a kid who wants a duo design rather than a single character, the near-square proportion fills the panel cleanly.
- Canvas trick or treat bag frontDenim jacket back yoke; at 3.5 inches it sits in the yoke panel without bumping the seams and the 12-colour palette reads as a proper illustration.
- Kids pillow cover halloween characterPurple or black cotton pillow cover centred, the lavender accent tones in the reaper hood pick up beautifully against a dark ground.
- Denim jacket back yoke patchFramed seasonal hoop display stitched on firm cotton twill, mount in an 5-inch frame, the ghost and reaper pair looks like a small editorial illustration.
- Halloween fabric panel wall artHalloween gift bag embellishment, stitch on felt, back with light cutaway and trim, attach to the ribbon tie of a gift bag.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
