Its a ghost who collects plants. The ghost form is that round, cream, almost shapeless drape with two solid black oval eyes looking straight ahead, completely unfazed, holding a small terracotta pot of trailing string-of-pearls vines to its chest. Around it, 5 or 6 houseplants in different pots and hangers: a tall tropical with broad pointed leaves, a hanging planter with long chains of pearls draping down, a small low groundcover plant to the lower left.
The colour palette is intentionally minimal. 5 colours: cream, forest green, terracotta orange, a lighter sage for the smaller leaves, and black for outlines and ghost eyes. Really nice on a natural linen tote or a sage cotton canvas. Because its only 5 colour changes the machine runs fairly quickly even on the 7-in jumbo size at 55k stitches. Smallest is just over a thousand stitches at 3.5 inches.
I made this for the overlap crowd who loves plants and also thinks ghosts are cute. And honestly theres a lot of them. People have been buying it for tote bags, plant shop staff aprons, and autumn home decor hoops more than I expected. Its not a halloween design exactly, more of a year-round boho ghost thing.
Stitch on natural linen or oatmeal cotton for the cleanest result. Back it with fusible mesh under if youre hooping any loose-weave linen or the satin columns on those trailing vines will shift on the open grain. Pair this with a small embroidered plant name underneath if youre doing a botanical series. Skip anything with a printed floral pattern on the base fabric, the ghost just disappears into it.
