This ones more of a chibi illustration style than a straight ghost design, and thats kind of the whole point. The witch hat is disproportionately big compared to the little ghost figure, which gives it that cartoonish lopsided look that a bunch of customers have told me they specifically wanted for kids items. Fourteen thousand eight hundred and thirty-six stitches across nine colours at a density of 227, digitised in Wilcom with the satin on the hat running in a slightly different direction from the ghost fill, which is how you get the two shapes to read as separate objects even at small sizes.
I get messages every october asking about this one for personalised trick-or-treat bags, and it really does work well on canvas. The ghost colour is built from three tones of white and grey layered, base fill, shadow pass, and a highlight satin line, so its got actual dimension rather than reading as a flat blob. On a black canvas tote it looks genuinely good. Hoop a medium cutaway stabiliser for canvas or cotton twill, and tearaway works on smooth quilting cotton if youre keeping the underside clean.
The 9-colour palette includes some warm purples and oranges that sit nicely against both orange and black backgrounds, so theres flexibility there. Avoid cheap polyester blends if you can, the ghost highlight details lose definition on fabric with a rough weave. Good placement options include left chest on kids shirts, front of a halloween book bag, or a centre panel on a small canvas pouch. Stitch it on orange cotton for a warm seasonal feel or black denim for a sharper contrast look.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Kids halloween trick or treat bagTrick-or-treat bag front for a kid who insists on the ghost-with-a-hat version and nothing else.
- Left chest shirt embroidery for childrenLeft chest on a kids jersey shirt; stretch needle prevents the white body fill from pulling at the knit edge.
- Canvas book bag front panelBook bag front panel on a canvas or cotton base, the crooked oversized hat gives it instant character from across the classroom.
- Halloween pillow cover cute designOrange cotton pillowcase centred placement for a kids bedroom that goes full halloween without being too intense.
- Cotton pouch front embroidery accentSmall zip coin pouch front; tearaway works fine on smooth cotton duck and the compact size suits a little bag panel.
- Kids costume chest panel patchBib of a gymslip or pinafore costume for a kids halloween fancy dress, the hat proportion reads funny even at 3 inches.
- Halloween gift tag fabric labelWoven label base: stitch onto felt, trim with pinking shears, attach to a handmade gift bag as a tag people will keep.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
