Sketched this gingerbread girl back in september when one customer told me her shop sold out of every gingerbread design she could find. So I figured Id make a really lovely one. Shes got the classic round cookie shape, but in a bright red puffed sleeve dress with white icing zigzag trim down the bottom edge. A small red bow perches on top of her head.
Her face has the typical pink cheek dots, a friendly smiley mouth in white piping, and tiny black dot eyes. Body is warm tan gingerbread brown with a deeper brown outline shading round the edges. Theres two green peppermint swirls sat on the apron front as little buttons, which is honestly my favourite detail.
The whole thing reads colourful and bakery sweet, the kind of cookie character you imagine on a kids christmas apron or a cookie swap towel. Last december my daughter wanted hers on a felt stocking and the smallest size fit perfect on the cuff. People ask me alot if I can do a matching boy version, and yeah Im working on one, itll be out soon.
Comes in 5 sizes, smallest 3.51 inches wide, biggest 7.51 inches. Smaller fits a stocking cuff or a kids tshirt left chest, biggest works on a full kids apron front or the centre of a baking tea towel.
Stitches happy on cotton, linen, twill, felt and natural canvas. Skip dark or busy patterned fabrics because the icing piping needs a plain ground to read. Tearaway works on woven cotton, switch to a cutaway for stretch knit. Drop me a message if the file gives any grief, Ill help out.
