Mocked up this waving chibi girl as a general-purpose kids character and shes been landing well on everything from tote bags to kids room decor. She stands at a slight angle, one hand raised in a little wave, the other arm relaxed at her side. Her hair is a long brown ponytail swept off to one side with a small pink hairband, and its got enough directional fill that it reads as glossy. Tiny black eyes, small open mouth smile, round pink blush patches on both cheeks. Very much the classic chibi face formula but it works every time.

7 colours doing the work here. White top has a short-sleeved cut with a light satin fill and a small bow detail at the neckline stitched in pink. Skirt is a pleated pink shape, the pleats suggested by alternating stitch angle on adjacent panels rather then actual separate pieces, which keeps the density manageable. Pink sandals with small white dot accents on the straps. Brown ponytail uses two stitch directions, one for the main body of the hair and one for the tail sweep, so it sits naturally. Wilcom EmbroideryStudio digitising, and the density is at 899 stitches per square inch, so this needs your stabiliser game to be on point.

4 sizes from 4.01 by 2.19 inches up to 7.01 by 3.83, with counts from 12,315 up to 24,137. I get messages about this character design every few weeks, mostly from customers who stitch it on kids backpacks and then have half the school asking for one. A parent wrote me just last month saying her daughter wears the backpack with this on it literally every single day. Use a firm medium cutaway stabiliser and hoop tightly on every size, the density demands it. Stitch on pink, white, mint, pale yellow or peach backgrounds so the 7 colours each read cleanly.

Skip anything textured or pile-y at this density as the fine sandal strap detail will sink into the fabric. Float a water-soluable topping on any loose weave cotton or linen to keep the stitch paths tracking straight. Message me via the shop contact page if theres a registration issue between the skirt panels or the blush cheeks land off centre and Ill resend you a corrected file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Girls cotton tote bag or book bagStitch the 5-inch on a pale pink canvas tote and the waving girl makes the bag feel personal without needing a name on it
  • Toddler bedroom throw pillowCentre the largest size on a white cotton throw pillow for a toddlers bedroom and pair with a matching pink pillowcase
  • Kids cotton backpack front patchEmbroider on a canvas backpack front pocket so the chibi girl is the first thing you see when the bag is on a hook
  • Childs denim jacket or vestA customer sewed the 6-inch onto the back of a kids denim vest and said her daughter refused to wear any other jacket after that
  • Baby girl play mat corner embroideryPlace the small size on a corner of a plain cotton play mat so the design is visible but doesnt overwhelm the play surface
  • Kids party favour pouchStitch on small drawstring pouches filled with crayons or hair accessories for a kids birthday party favour
  • Personalised girls bedroom cushionMessage me if you want the file in a mirrored version so the girl waves from the opposite direction for a paired cushion set
  • Childs hairband storage pouchUse the small size on a zip pouch for hairbands and clips so the pink skirt matches the contents inside

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
