So I drew this gnome with butterfly piece for the spring fantasy crowd, 11 colours of cosy storybook stitching. Round lil fella sat front on with a tall floppy striped cap that flops over at the peak, orange and brown stripes layered with a deep red brim across the front. Long cream beard hangs down well past his belly, small pink button nose poking out and the rest of his face buried under all that hair. A big monarch butterfly perches on one open green mitten while the other mitten rests on his round tummy. Eleven colours all in.

Beard sits on a soft directional fill, cream blended with grey shading along the bottom edge so it reads fluffy not flat. Each hat band uses tight satin columns and the brim drops a shade darker so it sits forward of the cap proper. Butterfly is the showpiece, monarch-style wings done in rust orange and warm red satin with fine black veining stitched right at the end so the wing pattern reads crisp. And his green tunic carries a subtle outline shadow on one side so he sits forward from the page.

Im aiming this at spring bloom fantasy fans, easter market merch folks and small Etsy shops doing whimsical kids room decor. Small hoop runs nineteen thousand six hundred and twenty one stitches across a 3.48 by 3.51 footprint, full hoop reaches fifty three thousand five hundred and seventy seven on a 7.45 by 7.51. A customer wrote me last easter wanting three for niece, nephew and goddaughter gifts, stitched onto sage drawstring sacks filled with chocolate eggs and a hairband each. She reckoned the kids ended up squabbling over who got which gnome even though all three were identical.

Stitch onto a flat woven cotton, washed linen, soft canvas or a pastel cotton drill for the cleanest finish. Pale cream, dusty sage, soft pink or warm oatmeal lets the hat stripes and the wing satins read properly. Steer clear of bright red, the deep brim panel disappears straight into the colour. Brushed fleece is also a no, the slim black veining sinks below the pile and that whole monarch pattern muddies up.

Density sits around 958 spi with 53k on the largest, decent weight but not punishing. Reach for medium tearaway underneath cotton or grab a light cutaway when youre on stretchier knit. Hoop the cloth nice and firm so all that downward beard stitching cant tug the surface inwards. Drop me a quick chat on the listing if a needle break mucks up the butterfly pass and Ill point you at where to reload colour by colour.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
