This lil gnome is really really full of detail. The hat alone has 10 colours in the stop sequence, going through blue-grey tones, the sandy beard, the peachy skin on those stubby hands, a white daisy body with a warm yellow centre, and those dark red boots at the base. The daisy petals are done in narrow satin columns with a subtle directional shift so they dont all run parallel, which gives them dimension rather than looking flat.

Wilcom set the colour build. 10 colour changes, 11 stops, 176 trims on the small size, going to 187 trims on the large. Density across the body sections runs at 1,225 spi which translates to denser-side coverage, so the gnome body is firm and the colours stay saturated. Sizes run from 3.51 inches wide at 25,869 stitches to 7.51 inches at 65,230 stitches. Because its a dense filled design with alot of stops, give yourself extra time for this one. Digitising done in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio so the thread order is already optimised to minimise bobbin waste.

One customer emailed photos last spring of the daisy on a tea towel run on a pale yellow quilting cotton. The gnome pops off that fabric colour something lovely. On white cotton you get a really crisp read of all 10 thread shades. Avoid dark fabrics unless you underlay heavily because the white daisy petals need a solid base to show up.

Use medium-weight cutaway stabiliser under this one. At 65,000 stitches on the big size theres real pull through the hoop if you shortcut the stabiliser. Skip the topping unless youre on terry or velour.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Spring home decor cushion covers and table runnersThe 7.51-in build placed on a 20-inch square cushion cover is a real statement on a spring lounge setup
  • Kids bedroom wall hoop art and framed piecesThe 4-inch size in a 6-inch hoop makes a finished wall piece on its own, great for a girl's room
  • Baby shower gift bags and nursery tote bagsHooped onto the side panel of a canvas gift bag at 3.5 inches, all 10 colours read clearly on cream canvas
  • Garden club aprons and potting shed accessoriesA full-colour gnome on a natural linen apron bib is practical and fun for anyone who gardens
  • Easter basket liners and seasonal gift wrappingThe small 3.51-inch size on the front panel of an Easter basket liner, pale blue linen is a good base
  • Childrens denim jackets and cotton pinaforesThe 4-in build on a denim jacket chest panel gives good contrast between denim and the pastel gnome colours
  • Market stall display banners and fabric buntingRepeated at smaller sizes across cotton bunting triangles, this works well at spring markets and pop-up stalls

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
