The sunflower takes up the whole left side and its really really the star of this piece. Half of it is showing, which gives it this bold cropped look like the flower is growing in from the edge of the fabric. The petals alternate between cherry red satin columns and soft white, which gives it that American flag feeling without spelling it out. Centre of the sunflower is a navy blue oval packed with small white stars using a tatami fill, kinda just like a little canton badge sewn into the flower.

To the right of the sunflower, the words stack up nice and clean. "God Bless America" comes in at the top in chunky red satin letters with tight tracking. Then "Land That" drops into a thin cursive grey script, much softer and more handwritten-feeling. And "I Love" comes back in big red below. The contrast between the bold satin text and the flowing grey script is what makes the composition breathe. Three colours only, 3 thread changes, which keeps the whole stitch-out manageable for a design with 37,712 stitches on the largest 6.89-inch size.

I get a lot of orders for this one around may and november. A military mum from Texas wrote me last veterans day about stitchin it on a cream canvas tote she was gonna fill with goodies for her son's homecoming ceremony. She sent photos and it looked brilliant on the natural linen background. The red and white petals were really realy vivid. This is also the one people grab for memorial day pillow covers and patriotic front-porch cushions.

Best on cream, oatmeal or natural canvas because the white petals need a light background to show up properly. Run it on navy blue fabric if ya want a reverse-flag effect but then the centre star field disappears so youre gonna lose some of the detail there. Use a cutaway stabiliser on anything with stretch. Woven cotton and linen work great with a medium tearaway underneath. Slow your machine slightly when it hits the star-field tatami section, 684 density is dense and ya dont want bobbin issues mid-stitch.

Send me a quick message if ya need a custom size outside the 5 that come in the file and I can check what Wilcom can do with the digitising.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • 4th of July tees and tank topsStitch the 6-inch size on a cream or white tee and wear it to a 4th of July cookout. The red petals pop off light fabric really well.
  • Veterans Day homecoming tote bagsFill a natural canvas tote with homecoming gifts and embroider the 5-inch version on the front as a keepsake for a returning serviceperson.
  • Memorial Day pillow coversRun the largest size on a cream linen pillow cover for a memorial day porch display alongside a small flag arrangement.
  • Patriotic front porch cushionsEmbroider on outdoor cushion covers in a natural canvas and leave em on the porch swing through the whole patriotic holiday season.
  • Military family reunion shirtsMake matching tees for a military family reunion using the 4-inch version on white, great for photos with multiple generations.
  • Country western denim jacket patchesStitch the 3.45-inch on a denim jacket chest pocket as a subtle patriotic patch for country music concerts or rodeo events.
  • Church independence day event apronsUse the medium size on a white apron for a church fourth of july picnic volunteer. Pairs well with red gingham ribbons.
  • Patriotic craft fair canvas pouchesEmbroider on cream canvas zipper pouches and sell em at a patriotic craft fair alongside flag-themed accessories.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
