The dog is completely unbothered. Lying flat on the sand, front paws stretched forward, tongue out, eyes half shut. Behind him two palm tree silhouettes flank a big circular sun disc in burnt orange and cream, the kind of layered halo you see on old 70s travel posters. Theres a couple of white seagull shapes stitched in against the sky and a narrow cobalt blue strip cutting across as the ocean horizon. All of it sits inside a circular badge outline so it reads as a patch design from the start.
10 colours but the palette is very controlled. Warm golden tan on the dog, flat black for the palms, an orange-to-cream gradient in the sun disc, cobalt blue for the sea strip. No colour feels out of place and the retro badge framing pulls it together into something that looks like it belongs on a 1970s hawaii souvenir rack. In the good way. Nostalgic warmth, instantly readable.
9 sizes from 3.5 by 3.5 inches up to 7.5 by 7.51. Largest comes in at around 95k stitches with density at 1688 per square inch so its stitching heavy. Use a medium to firm cutaway, hoop tight, and dont rush the satin fills on that orange gradient or theyll pull the badge outline slightly. The circular border stitches last and if the fabric shifts during the dog fill youll see it in the border alignment. Take your time and pick a firm woven canvas or denim rather than anything with stretch, its worth it. Slow your machine to around 600 SPM on the circular frame pass so it stitches out smooth and even.
Skip stretchy knits entirely for this one, the circular badge frame needs a stable woven base or it warps.
Retro beach badge designs have been having a real moment on summer accessories and denim lately. A customer last summer stitched the large version on the denim ranch back and I get messages about this design regularly from golden retriever owners who find it through gift searches. It sells to dog people but also to anyone who just loves a vintage coastal look and doesnt even own a dog. Email me if the disc gradient skips a stop or the colour sequence needs a reset and Ill realign the colour stops.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
