Gothic blackletter lettering spelling out mama with a chunky lightning bolt worked into the design, either flanking the text or stacked below it. The letters are thick and angular with the characteristic broken-pen stroke feel of blackletter typography. Density is high at 705 stitches per square inch, which is what you need for that sharp edge on the letter serifs. Single colour, 6 sizes from 0.95 inches wide up to 2.52 wide, heights run from 3.0 to 8.0 inches. Stitch counts open at 3447 on the tiny version, climbing to 14222 on the tall narrow largest.
Wilcom set the density high here on purpose because blackletter falls apart at lower stitch counts, the thick strokes start looking fuzzy instead of sharp. Use a sturdy backer for cotton or denim, and back the piece with a heavy cutaway on any stretchy fabric. The portrait format means this design works vertically on a sleeve, a collar edge, a shirt side seam, or even a hat brim. One customer emailed me last month to say they stitched the 6-inch version in silver metallic on black denim and it came out exactly as bold as they were hoping, they actually Email me a second order the same week for the matching nana version.
Best thread for this is a solid black 40wt poly for max sharpness. But it also works great in gold on black, white on deep navy, or even burgundy on cream if you want it to lean slightly vintage rather than full goth. Avoid lighter-weight 60wt thread here, the dense fill needs a heavier thread to sit cleanly without loops on the back.
