At first look its a bee, then you look again and realise the wings are fern fronds, the abdomen is made of stacked leaf and bud shapes, it reads like a botanical mandala that just happens to look like an insect. The symmetry is dead clean, left side mirrors right side exactly. Grass green fills the body, the leaf sprays fanning out from the centre and the layered frond wings. Warm gold comes in on the wheat-stalk accent pieces and the small bud clusters near the wing tips. Black handles the outlines and the stripe detail across the bee body. Three colours, a lot of heavy lifting.

Dense is an understatement. The density hits 1,332 stitches per square inch with a max stitch count of 56,025 on the biggest size. Run it slow, around 550 SPM on the large size. The directional fills on each frond go in opposing angles to the adjacent ones, which is what creates that folded botanical look, flat one direction, bright the next. Use a heavy cutaway no matter what fabric youre working on, its non-negotiable at this density. Dont try to shortcut the stabiliser on this one.

Nine sizes total, going from 2.61 by 3.51 inches up to 5.6 by 7.51. The smalest fits a jacket chest badge area and the biggest covers a full tote face or cushion front. Try it on dark backgrounds, forest green, deep navy, charcoal, even black. The vivid grass green and warm gold pop hard against dark fabric and it reads like a print rather than a stitched piece. Works fine on cream or natural linen too if you want something lighter.

Three thread cones and two colour changes total, so the stitch out is dead simple to manage. People have been buying this one for garden market gear lately, goes on totes, aprons, pouches, all of it. She told me last month she sold out of her green totes at a spring market after putting this on them. Ping me a quick note if a run goes off register on any of the frond fills and ill sort it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Garden tote bag front panelStitch the 6-in face on the front of a natural canvas tote for a garden centre, farmers market or plant-themed gift shop
  • Denim jacket back or chest badgeAdd the 5-inch to the chest of a denim jacket for a bold botanical badge that reads as art rather than decoration
  • Botanical kitchen apron bibPlace the 4-inch on the bib of a natural canvas apron as a statement piece for someone who runs a kitchen garden or sells at a market stall
  • Embroidery hoop wall art on dark linenMount the 7-inch in a large dark linen hoop and hang it as wall art in a reading room, studio or plant-filled home office
  • Nature journal cover patchStitch the 3-inch on the cover of a hardback journal, back with a firm stabiliser and hand-stitch around the edges to finish
  • Beekeeper gift set panel on linenUse the 5-inch on the front of a linen gift pouch for a beekeeper, fill it with beeswax lip balm and local honey jars
  • Plant shop tote bag or canvas pouchAdd the 4-inch to a canvas zip pouch for a plant shop so it doubles as a branded accessory they can sell alongside seedlings

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
