No branches, no ornaments, no tinsel. Just snowflakes stacked into a tree shape, dark green thread, and it works really well. The large 6-point snowflake at the bottom centre is the anchor of the whole composition, and the smaller flakes, stars and heart accents build up from there to the star at the top. She sent me a photo last early november after running this on a cream fleece throw blanket and the contrast between the open snowflake arms and the filled centres was sharper than Id expected at that size. Thats the thing with a design like this, it doesnt need multiple colors to read well on fabric.

Single color, zero color changes, which makes this a fast stitch-out. Its not gonna bog down on lighter fabrics, density is moderate at 382 stitches per square inch. Works on cotton, fleece, linen, felt, theyre all fine. Use your topping stabiliser on anything with a pile or texture though, the running-stitch arms on the smaller snowflakes are fine enough that theyll sink on terry or fleece without it. Pop a cutaway under it before hooping on knits.

Use the 3.5 inch version on a sleeve or pocket, it fits adult sweatshirts without crowding the seam. Stitch the 5 inch size on natural linen for a cushion and youll see how clean a one-thread job can look on neutral fabric. Skip the tearaway on anything stretchy. And if youre doing a table runner, run two of the smaller sizes at each end for a matched set.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cream or natural fleece throw blankets for a cosy christmas giftThe large 7.5 inch size fills a throw blanket corner beautifully with room to spare around it.
  • Adult or kids christmas sweatshirt chest or sleeve placementUse the 4-5 inch mid-range on a chest placement for sweatshirts, sits just above the pocket.
  • Linen christmas cushion covers in neutral or earthy tonesDark green on natural linen cushion is a really elegant combination for a understated holiday look.
  • Festive table runners stitched at each end for christmas dinnerRun two of the smaller sizes at each end of a long table runner for a balanced repeat.
  • Framed hoop art in a 5 or 6 inch wooden frame for minimal holiday decorMount the 5 inch size in a hoop with white felt backing for a clean minimalist wall piece.
  • Reusable gift bags in cotton canvas or felt fabricStitch the medium size onto kraft-paper-look felt bags for an eco-friendly gift wrap alternative.
  • Christmas card holders or small fabric pockets for advent calendarsUse the 3.5 inch version on small fabric pockets in an advent calendar grid layout.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
