Built this bat design around the classic Halloween orange and black combination but kept the character side of it cute rather than spooky. The bat faces you front-on with its wings fully spread to either side, the wing membrane filled with a dense Halloween orange satin. The body itself is a solid black rounded shape and the face has those little spiral eyes that read as dazed or happy depending how you look at them. Its wider than tall, 3.36 inches across at the middle size and only 1.81 inches high.
Two colours only: orange runs first for the wing panels at the biggest stitch share, then black handles the body, outline and the eye detail. Density at 810 means the wing fill is packed. Use a firm cutaway under any stretch fabric, on stable woven cotton or canvas a standard tearaway is fine. At the smallest 1.30 x 2.51 inch size its 5,184 stitches, at the full 3.36 x 6.51 inch version its 17,728. Thats a big jump so pick your size based on where its going before you hoop up. Back the bobbin in orange or black depending which side youre showing.
My friend stitched 3 of these on a set of black linen napkins for a halloween dinner party last October and they looked realy well considered rather than festive-store tacky. Use it on Halloween bags, kids tees, trick-or-treat buckets, bucket hats. Works on felt aswell for no-sew patch projects. Stitch a row of the small 1.3-inch size along a cuff or neckline trim for a repeat that holds up washing after washing.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- kids Halloween trick-or-treat bagsWide wingspan and cute expression make it ideal for the front of a kids trick-or-treat canvas bag.
- bucket hat front panelsAt 2 inches wide it sits neatly on the front panel of a bucket hat without looking stuffed in.
- black linen Halloween dinner napkinsThe 3-inch version on black linen dinner napkins looks like a styled halloween table rather than a costume party.
- tee shirt chest or pocketChest placement on a kids tee at 2.5 inches is perfectly scaled without overwhelming the shirt.
- felt no-sew patchesCut from black felt with the design stitched on, peel-and-stick backing turns it into a reusable patch.
- Halloween costume accessory patchesQuick stitch at the small size means you can do a set of 10 costume patches in an afternoon.
- small zip coin pursesFits on a coin purse or card wallet front for a halloween season accessory that actually holds up.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
