Its an open book, the kind with thick pages fanned right out flat, and from right where the spine meets the pages a whole swarm of bats is rising up. Not one or two bats. About 8 to 10 of them, different sizes, different wing positions, some mid-flap and some with wings spread fully wide. The bigger ones are near the top and the smaller ones scatter lower down near the book, which gives it a sense of motion, like they just erupted out of the pages a second ago.

The book itself is digitised with horizontal parallel fill lines across the page stack so you get the visual texture of stacked pages without needing extra colours to achieve it. The outline is clean satin and the spine binding detail is just a small oval at the base where everything fans out from. Its restrained and it works well, the whole design reads clearly even at the smaller sizes.

Single colour black all the way through, no colour change stops, which means this is about as straightforward to run as it gets. Stitch count goes from about 6.7k at the smallest around 2.3 inches wide up to nearly 16k at the largest around 5 inches wide. The underlay on the page fill is good, stitches lay flat without any puckering even on lighter cotton fabrics.

Ive been getting alot of orders from customers who teach or work in libraries since last October, and I get why, this one just fits that world perfectly. Send me a message if the stitch test shows any wobble in the page lines and Ill sort it fast, thats usually just a hooping tension thing and its an easy fix. Best on natural cotton or canvas where the black thread really pops. Skip dark fabric unless youre planning to back the design with a lighter stabiliser base. Use tear-away on stable wovens, cutaway on anything with stretch. Hoop it snug, the parallel line fill needs decent tension or you get wobble in the lines.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
