The cat is sitting right inside the cup, not perched on the rim but fully nestled in there like thats just where it lives. Its a round, chubby-faced black kitten with those big chibi-style eyes, one green, one a slightly different shade, and a small pink nose. On top of its head sits a tall purple witch hat, same shade as the mug, with a gold buckle across the band. The brim of the hat casts a subtle shadow across the cats forehead that Wilcom EmbroideryStudio pulled off beautifully with layered directional stitching.
The mug is a bold purple satin fill, dense enough to feel plush, with 'Halloween' written in white script across the front. A few small black bats orbit either side of the composition, just silhouettes, so they dont add a huge stitch count but finish the scene. At 16 colours and 15 colour changes this is definitely the most complex thing in any halloween project lineup, but the stop sequence is logical and easy to follow.
Stitch count ranges from 15,938 at the smallest size up to 40,851 at the largest 7.5-inch width. Because theres alot of dense satin going on, especially in the purple areas and the cat body, I'd strongly recommend a firm cutaway stabiliser underneath, hooped tight. The green eyes are tiny satin columns and theyll shift if the base moves. Run speed down a bit for those sections.
A customer who makes personalised pet gifts ordered this for a Halloween tote bag run, she told me the cats eyes were the detail that made every customer stop and look twice.
