Thirteen colours and only 5307 stitches, thats the thing about this design that suprised me when I finished it. The density is 103, which is low on purpose, it keeps the white body light and airy-looking rather than thick and stiff. At 3.5 inches wide by 2.28 tall its compact enough for left-chest placement on kids tops, bags, costume pieces, you name it. I digitised it in Wilcom in september last year after my daughter kept pointing at ghost designs at craft stores and saying none of them were cute enough.

The tricky part with a white ghost on a white or light fabric is contrast, dont skip the underlay even though the design is low density. A crisp charcoal outline around the ghost body is the thing that makes it readable against a light ground. Add topping on anything fluffy or textured so the outlines dont get buried in the pile. Pair tearaway with the kids jersey tops and sweatshirts, they stretch and at low stitch density any give in the fabric will distort the shape. Tearaway works fine on woven cotton or canvas.

Use 75/11 sharp needle on dense fabrics and a ballpoint on jersey. Run at 800 spm, low density means it stitches fast without quality loss. Skip placing this on grey fabric unless you increase the outline weight first, the figure can fade right into a mid-grey ground. Pick a black, orange, purple or white ground and all thirteen colours pop properly.

Wash in cool water, gentle cycle, dont tumble dry, the low density makes this one of the easier designs to maintain over repeated washing.

What people are using this design for

  • Party banner cotton panelLinen tea towel halloween accent for a kitchen that does seasonal decor but keeps it low-key.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
