I had a customer email me last february looking for a halloween cat design she could put on her kids' matching shirts, she wanted something that wasnt too scary but still felt proper halloween. This is what I made for that: a cat family, three of em, all sitting together in that classic arched halloween pose, done entirely in single colour. One thread, 12,674 stitches, clean silhouette work.

Its digitised in Wilcom at density 196, which hits that sweet spot, enough coverage that the satin outlines and fill areas look solid, but not so heavy that the fabric pulls under the weight. The design is 3.5 inches wide by 2.86 inches tall, so it sits nicely as a left-chest piece or a center pocket placement. Stabiliser: cutaway on jersey and knits, tearaway on woven cotton. Use a medium-weight tearaway if youre doing pillow cases or tote bags.

And because its single-colour, you can really have fun with thread choice. I get DMs from people using black on white fabric, white on black, burnt orange on cream, all three look completely different and all work. The negative space in the cats' facial details and the gaps between the kittens depend entirely on clean underlay stitching, which Wilcom handles well, so trust the stitch order in the file.

Hop the project fabric tight in the hoop before you start, single-colour designs with this stitch density can shift slightly if the tension isnt even. Use a 75/11 embroidery needle. Skip over-ironing after stitching since the thread edges can flatten slightly with heavy pressing, a light steam is plenty. Email me if you need a different thread colour sequence adjusted and Ill sort it for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Matching kids halloween shirt setMatching kids halloween shirts for siblings, the cat family of three mirrors a sibling set naturally, parents notice that connection.
  • Halloween tote bag front panelHalloween canvas tote bag for a cat owner who wants the halloween aesthetic but the cat-family loyalty reads as personal.
  • Black cat pillow cover accentKitchen towel center piece for someone who has cats and decorates every room at halloween including the kitchen drawer towels.
  • October kitchen towel centerBlack cat pillow cover as an october living room piece that works year-round if you happen to have a black cat in the house.
  • Halloween trick-or-treat bagCat-themed apron front pocket patch for a cat-owner who bakes at halloween and wants the apron to reflect both interests.
  • Spooky onesie chest embroideryInfant onesie for a baby in a family that has cats, the arched halloween pose is more readable at this age than a spooky face.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
