5 colour stops on this one: orange for the pumpkin bodies, pink/magenta for inner ear detail, brown for the stems, charcoal for kitty shadow tones, and black for outlines plus the witch hat. Total stitch count climbs from 15,568 on the smallest 2.21-inch version up to 36,994 on the largest 4.71-inch. Density runs heavy at 1046 cause of the layered colour fills on the pumpkins, so factor thats into your fabric choice.
I built it in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio with proper colour-stop sequencing, orange pumpkin bodies stitch first then black kitty silhouettes layer on top, then outlines finish everything off. Run the colour order as written or youll end up with cats underneath the pumpkin fills which looks wrong. 80 trims on the big version because of the gap between the three pumpkin shapes.
And the fabric thing matters alot here. Heavy density plus 5 colours means youre best off with solid medium-weight cotton, halloween-themed bag canvas, or fleece. Skip lightweight knits and stretchy jersey, the layered fills will pucker badly without proper cutaway. One customer ordered the 4-inch on a halloween costume t-shirt last october for her kids trick-or-treat outfit, she used a double layer of medium cutaway and it sat flat on the cotton tee. Use a fresh 75/11 sharp needle for woven cotton or switch to ballpoint 75/11 for the knit tee approach.
Pair the 3.5-inch with a halloween treat bag canvas panel for a kids party favour set. Best on cream, white, or pale grey ground colours so the orange and black both pop against the fabric. Avoid black or very dark fabric, the cat silhouettes will sink and youll lose definition against a dark background.
