I made this one back in september last year after getting a bunch of requests for something halloween-themed but not actually scary. Alot of my customers do baby and kids stuff, onesies, little tees, tiny tote bags, and they kept asking for something their kids would actually find funny. So I went with a row of ducks in halloween costumes. The concept is ridiculous and honestly people love it.

The file clocks in at 14,775 stitches with 15 colour changes, digitised in Wilcom at a density of 410. A denser file is needed here because the costume details on each duck need proper satin coverage to read clearly at 3.51" wide. And since the composition is horizontal, it sits really nicely centred on a baby onesie chest or left chest on a toddler shirt. Use a cutaway stabiliser underneath, the dense stitch count needs solid backing or the fabric will pull.

One customer ordered five onesies using this file last october, all on different coloured bases, and she said people kept stopping her at the grocery shop to ask about them. I get messages like that every halloween season and it still makes me laugh.

Hoop on a medium cotton or cotton-blend base, run a layer of cutaway underneath, and add a light topping if youre working on a knit. Skip really lightweight jersey for this one, 15 colours in one hoop needs fabric that stays flat under the hoop. Pop it on a dark base for extra contrast. Holler if anything with the file doesnt work out right and Ill sort it for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Baby onesie chest embroideryBaby onesie chest for a 6-12 month first halloween, the row of ducks in costume is exactly the kind of thing that gets photographed at family gatherings.
  • Toddler halloween costume teeToddler halloween tee for a 2T to 4T kid, the bright 15-colour palette pops on black or orange fabric and makes everyone smile.
  • Kids halloween tote bagCanvas trick-or-treat bag front, the horizontal duck row fills the centre panel and the story of their costumes comes out in the detail.
  • Left chest adult t-shirtBib front for an infant halloween outfit, white terry cloth base with cutaway and a light topping to keep the loops from tangling.
  • Halloween bib for infantsKids classroom halloween party shirt for a teacher who wants something fun to wear on a friday in october.
  • Children's fall sweatshirt frontThrow pillow for a playful halloween living room, the ducks read as humour rather than holiday decor and can stay on the sofa longer.
  • Cotton halloween throw pillowCotton halloween tote for a mum who finds the ghost-pumpkin combo a bit predictable, this is the alternative she has been looking for.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
