Pulled this together last august for a customer who kept asking for halloween and cats in the same design, and alot of people have been ordering it since. The ghost is the main shape, kind of the rounded sheet-style ghost you'd draw as a kid, and theres three cats just absolutely taking over it. One's on top like it owns the place, one clings to the side mid-slide, one is flopped at the base with its tail curled under.
Its all single black thread, no colour changes, which makes it genuinely easy to hoop and run. Stitch count goes from 2,786 at the smallest 2.51-inch size up to 7,329 at 5.5 inches, so the density stays manageable. Use a medium cutaway stabiliser and youre done -- no topping needed on most fabrics because the outlines are satin and hold shape well on knits aswell.
Best fabric for this one is a black hoodie with white thread swapped in -- the ghost reads instantly and the cats look crisp. But I've seen it stitched in black on grey fleece and it still works great. Skip the heavy underlay on the smallest size, the outline fills are directional so they dont need extra support at 2.51 inches.
One customer hooped the 4-inch version on a tote bag for a cat-lover gift and sent me photos -- the recipient thought it was hand-drawn, which is kinda the goal. Holler if you hit any snag with the download and Ill get it sorted straight away.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Black hoodie with white thread for a Halloween outfit that cat lovers actually want to wearSwap to white 40wt thread, hoop on heavy black fleece with cutaway backing -- ghost pops at the 5.5-inch size without any topping.
- Trick-or-treat tote bag for a kid who wont settle for a plain pumpkin designRun the 4-inch version on a natural canvas tote, black thread on cream fabric gives enough contrast even under orange porch lights.
- Matching set of cat-lover gifts -- tote, mug rug, and a small coin pouchUse the 2.51-inch file for the pouch, 4-inch for the tote, keep thread colour consistent in black so the set reads as a collection.
- Iron-on patch base fabric for a denim jacket Halloween panelStitch on tearaway-backed twill fabric first, cut close to edge, apply iron-on backing -- sits flat on denim with no puckering.
- Tea towel gift for the cat-obsessed coworker during the October office swapHoop the 3.5-inch size on a flour-sack weight cotton, single black thread, press flat before gifting -- takes under 20 minutes to stitch.
- Halloween pillow cover with dark grey linen and black threadUse cutaway on the back of the linen cover, 4-inch size centred, then sew up the cover around the insert.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
