Gnome designs have been really popular with my customers for the past couple of years, and last year I got a bunch of requests specifically for a halloween version. So I made this one, a gnome holding a BOO sign, which is honestly the simplest halloween message you can stitch onto something and still have it look great. Its casual, a bit funny, and people of all ages like it.

The file is 11,567 stitches in 10 colours, digitised in Wilcom at a density of 157. Thats a medium density, sitting comfortably on mid-weight woven cotton or cotton canvas without pulling excessively. At 3.5" wide by 3.27" tall, it fits nicely on a tote bag front, a pillow panel, or a tea towel. Stitch it on a natural canvas surface for the cleanest result, the beard textures and hat stripes are where most of the 10 colour changes land, and Wilcom sequences those cleanly. Pair crisp cutaway behind canvas, cutaway on anything with stretch. Dont skip the stabiliser even on thick canvas, youll thank yourself when the gnome beard textures come out clean.

Hoop it drum-tight before you start and add a layer of topping over any fleece or terry surface. I had a customer last november who used this on a batch of small trick-or-treat tote bags she made for her daughters class, she sent me a message saying every kid wanted to know where to get one. I get messages like that every october.

Email me if the download has any issues and I'll resend the files right away.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween tote bag frontHalloween tote bag for a trick-or-treat run, the friendly gnome face with BOO is immediately readable and a step above plain pumpkin designs.
  • Fall home decor pillowFall home decor pillow that can stay on the sofa from september through october without looking too specifically halloween.
  • Halloween tea towel embroideryLinen tea towel for a halloween kitchen, the 3.27-inch height centres well between the hemmed edges without crowding the design.
  • Kitchen apron front panelCotton apron bib for a halloween baking event, the gnome with sign reads as festive rather than scary which works for kids-present events.
  • Left chest sweatshirt placementSmall canvas gift bag for a halloween treat delivery, the gnome is cute enough that people want to keep the bag rather than throw it away.
  • Halloween wall hoop artFramed hoop wall art on orange or cream linen for a halloween mantel display, the seasonal character works as a standalone decor piece.
  • Seasonal tote for trick-or-treatLeft chest sweatshirt for someone who prefers the autumn gnome aesthetic to the typical skull or ghost imagery.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
