Chubby little gnomes in pointy halloween hats, grouped around a carved pumpkin, with a few small bats fluttering above the scene. Its a single colour design so theyre all rendered in solid black, which sounds like it might flatten the scene but it actually doesnt because the gnome shapes are so chunky and distinct they read clearly even without colour. Widths run from 2.26 inches up to 4.83 inches. Heights are taller than wide, from 3.51 to 7.51 inches, so its a portrait orientation design.
5 sizes, stitch counts from 12357 at the smallest up to 27236 stitches at the 4.83-inch wide version. Density is 751, moderately firm, which is what you need to get the gnome hat details and pumpkin face lines looking sharp at the smaller sizes. Wilcom mapped the fill under the hat brims and the pumpkin body section with extra underlay so those chunky filled areas dont pucker when theyre hooped on lightweight fabric. No colour changes, straight through from start to finish.
I ran a test batch of this one last autumn on a set of children's trick-or-treat bags my sister was making. She used oatmeal cotton canvas with black thread and the gnomes looked brilliant. The solid black on a neutral base gives the design that old-fashioned woodblock print quality. My sister realy liked it and so did every customer who bought one of those bags at the school halloween market.
Hoop it on a firm cutaway stabiliser, dont use tearaway on stretch cotton or jersey because the dense gnome body sections need a stable base. On stiff denim or canvas tearaway works fine. Add a topping on fleece or minky if youre doing kids items. The 2.26-inch smallest size fits on a small patch or a card pocket front if you want something subtle. Pair with a matching pumpkin repeat border along a hem for a full autumn set.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
