Nurses and medical workers are kinda the best halloween costume customers I have, and I made this one with them in mind. The stethoscope runs in a simple clean line style, the tubing curves in that classic arc, and where the listening end normally has a heart or plain disc, this version has a carved pumpkin face instead. The jack-o-lantern sits right there at the chestpiece, triangle eyes and the smile, making it instantly readable as a halloween nurse design without any text needed.

Just 2 colours, so theres one thread change from the main stethoscope black to the orange pumpkin fill. The density is 417 which is on the lighter side, I set it this way intentionally so the design sits softly on scrub fabric without making the garment stiff in that area. Wilcom handled the underlay so the black tubing outlines run clean and that pumpkin orange fill stays tight at the edges without bleeding. 5 sizes from 3 inches up to 6.42 inches wide, 8,737 stitches at the smallest and 20,074 at the full size. Hoop a light tearaway stabiliser on woven cotton scrubs, or a light cutaway if youre stitching onto stretch fabric.

I get a decent batch of these going out every september and october, mostly for nurses and healthcare workers doing their scrub halloween outfits. A customer ordered the 4 inch version last halloween for a whole department, said they stitched it onto the left chest area of their scrubs and everyone loved it. Stitch it on navy, teal, or black scrub fabric and the 2 colour contrast reads immediately. Skip the underlay topping on smooth scrub poly-cotton, the design doesnt need it at this density.

Pick a bright orange 40wt thread for the pumpkin fill, and a crisp black for the stethoscope. Keep the thread tension consistent on the curved tubing sections or the lines go wobbly.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
