Classic carved pumpkin sitting upright, round and proper, the kind with the nose ridge running down between the triangular eyes and a wide jagged grin below. On top of the pumpkin, a tall pointed witch hat in solid black with a deep purple hatband and a gold buckle detail on the brim. Bright orange body fill with subtle vertical rib shading gives the pumpkin its roundness. Lime green curly stem at the top, tucked under the hat brim. 6 colours, clean, nothing fussy, just the right amount of halloween.
Density at 933 stitches per inch is moderate, which means this runs faster and more reliably than the heavy-density halloween designs. Wilcom kept the pumpkin body fill light enough that tearaway stabiliser works on the small sizes on firm canvas. For anything above 5 inches or on any stretch fabric, go with cutaway. The triangular eye and grin cutouts are actually filled sections in a void colour rather than unstitched gaps, so registration matters there. Hooped fabric needs to be flat and firm before you start the pumpkin fill, and dont rush the bobbin check between the hat and pumpkin colour changes.
I get good orders on this one every october without fail. Last year a woman bought 3 copies of the file and stitched up a full matching set, aprons, tea towels and a tote, for a halloween party she was hosting. She messaged me after saying guests couldnt stop asking where she bought the matching set. Its a straightforward composition and thats exactly what makes it work across multiple surfaces without looking forced. 5 sizes from 3.33 to 7.11 inches wide with heights going up to 7.51 inches, so its a taller design than it is wide, which suits apron chest panels and tote bags perfectly.
Black, charcoal, deep navy and dark green fabrics all make the orange pumpkin pop. Orange fabric with black thread is a fun reversal but test on a swatch first. Put the small 3.33-inch version on a childs halloween sweatshirt chest or a felt trick-or-treat bag. Stitch the large 7.11-inch version on an apron chest panel, a canvas tote front or a halloween cushion cover. Skip sheer or very lightweight fabric, the orange fill needs some substance under it to sit flat, theres nothing worse than a puckered pumpkin.
