The ghost is drawn as a tall flowing shape -- no hard edges on the body, just this billowy white outline that tapers into little feet at the bottom. Poking out from the top is an orange witch hat with a wide brim, and orange wavy hair spills out from underneath. Shes holding a broom in one hand and a pink carved pumpkin candy pail in the other. A few small black bats float around her. The whole character is very light -- open areas, minimal fill, thats what makes it work at this stitch count.
4 colours only: orange, white, black, and a hot pink for the pumpkin pail. 4 colour changes. Stitch counts run from 6,467 at the smallest size up to 18,567 at the largest, across 5 sizes from 2.04 by 3.51 inches to 4.37 by 7.51 inches. Spent two evenings in Wilcom getting the proportions right, and the thin outline details on the broom and hat brim are really crisp.
Youre getting a character thats whimsical but not babyish -- older kids and adults both like this one. The ghost-witch combination is popular for a reason, its got that Hallmark-movie-Halloween energy without being too cute or too scary. Stitch it on white or cream fabric and the ghost body blends into the base for a nice floating effect. Pair it with orange thread accents on a natural tote for a really cohesive autumn look. Skip dark fabric unless youre stitching the figure in a contrast thread colour. People have been buying this for matching family halloween sets which I did not expect but makes total sense honestly.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Halloween tote bags and trick-or-treat sacksThe tall narrow format of the ghost fits a tote bag front well without needing centering adjustments.
- Sweatshirts for teen and adult Halloween outfitsOn a sweatshirt front the 4.37-inch tall version is visible without dominating the whole chest.
- Seasonal throw pillow covers in OctoberThe light open ghost body blends into a white or natural pillow cover in a cool semi-transparent way.
- Tea towels and kitchen linens for Halloween decorTea towels in linen or cotton take the 4 colour changes fast -- its a quick stitch for gifting season.
- Quilt blocks for a Halloween sampler quiltThe upright character shape works really well as a standalone quilt block inside a square frame.
- Fabric gift wrap squares or reusable gift bagsSmall muslin or cotton gift bags take the 2-inch size well and theyre reusable every year.
- Framed hoop art for Halloween wall displaysWhite thread ghost on a black linen hoop is a classic display piece that doesnt date.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
