Heres a layout that does something a bit unusual. The word "happy" appears stacked three times, all sitting on top of each other with a slight vertical offset so each layer peeks out from behind the next. The top and bottom versions are rendered in dark green as outline-only letters with no fill, just the stitch-path tracing the letterforms. The middle layer is the big red one, fully filled with dense satin stitching, bold and upfront. The result is a graphic shadow-echo effect thats more like something youd see on a print tee than a typical embroidery design.

Below comes "holidays" in black cursive script with a sweeping baseline, and on each side of the word sits a small four-pointed asterisk star. The horizontal sweep of the script contrasts nicely with all the vertical stacking going on above it. Its a lowercase design top to bottom, which keeps it feeling modern rather than shouty.

3 colours, 2 colour changes. Green outline layers go first, then red fill, then black for the holidays script and stars. Stitch count is actually quite low for the size, 13k on the largest 7.5-inch, thats because the green layers are outline-only with no fill density. Message me with your order number if the green outline registration looks off relative to the red layer, it can happen on older machines with loose carriage and its easy to compensate for once I know what youre working with.

Works on white, cream or pale grey fabric for the cleanest read on the layered effect. Skip busy patterned grounds because the outline-and-fill trick needs contrast to read properly. Use medium cutaway on knit sweatshirts and tear-away on woven cotton. Its also a good non-denominational option for people who want a festive design thats not specifically christmas-branded, which is why I get alot of orders from teachers and offices in late November.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Non-denominational office and workplace holiday giftsA customer bought this specifically for office gift bags because happy holidays works across all winter celebrations without singling anyone out
  • Festive sweatshirts for adults who dont want specifically christmas messagingStitch the 6-inch version centered on a plain adult sweatshirt and it reads like a graphic tee print, very different from typical holiday embroidery
  • Holiday tote bags and market bagsWorks on a natural canvas tote with good contrast, the green outline and red solid layer both read clearly against undyed fabric
  • Teacher appreciation gifts in decemberTeachers use this on personalised tote bags or notebook covers as a generic december gift that doesnt assume what the recipient celebrates
  • Seasonal home cushions and throw coversThe 5-inch fits well on a cushion cover front panel and the layered typography looks intentionally modern on a home dec piece
  • School winter fair merch and craft stallsLow stitch count means it finishes fast on a production run, great for anyone doing multiple pieces for a craft fair or school fundraiser
  • Holiday gift pouches and fabric wrappingStitch on a small fabric pouch or drawstring bag for a reusable gift wrap option that people actually keep

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
