Two pinecones, a tangle of pine needles, holly, and happy holidays script. Thats this design. One customer ordered it last christmas for a holiday table runner she makes every year and said she'd been hunting for something with real texture rather than just an outlined pinecone shape. The scales on the cones are built up in layered satin fills so you actually get depth when the light catches them.

Pop a sturdy cut-away under the fabric before you hoop anything stretchy, the largest size runs 52,770 stitches at 7.51 x 6.98 inches and thats a serious density. Smallest size is 23,281 stitches at 3.50 x 3.26 inches, plenty of detail even at that scale. Five sizes total.

Five colours in the thread sequence: dark red, dark green, teal, very dark brown, and sandy tan for the cone body. Four colour changes, which sounds more than it is. Stitch them in order and the layering builds itself. Use a scrap of your actual fabric first to double-check thread tension before committing to the final piece, especially with that tan fill on the cones.

Thats the only real setup note. Send me a message if anything looks off and I'll sort it out.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas table runners and centrepiecesThe wide 7-inch size sits beautifully centred on a natural linen runner between candles and pinecone decor
  • Holiday tote bags and gift wrapping fabricStitch onto heavy canvas tote in dark green for a gift bag that looks more expensive than it cost
  • Seasonal kitchen towels and tea towelsA medium 4-inch size on flour-sack towels is one of those christmas gifts that actually gets used
  • Christmas throw pillow coversWorks at the 5-inch size on a cream or burgundy pillow front, the sandy tan cones photograph really well
  • Winter wreath accent patches on jacketsThe 3.5-inch size is small enough to hoop onto a denim jacket patch panel without overwhelming the fabric
  • Holiday stockings with a woodland themeStitch on the front panel of a Christmas stocking in a woodland or cabin-style colour palette
  • Festive linen napkins for Christmas dinnerHem a set of linen napkins and stitch one per corner at the small 3.5-inch size for a coordinated table

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
